Dinoram® CRS Emulsifier for Chip Seal / Surface Dressing, Bond / Tack Coat, Prime Coat, Penetration and Cold Mixes

Dinoram® cationic rapid setting (CRS) emulsifiers are specifically designed for chip seal / surface dressing, bond / tack coat, prime coat and penetration spray grade bitumen emulsions. They can also be used with medium settings in the production of storable cold mixes.

Dinoram® cationic emulsifiers solve government agency and paving contractor chip seal / surface dressing construction challenges by forcing the chip seal / surface dressing emulsion to develop cohesive strength with the chip aggregate much sooner than alternatives. The chip seal / surface dressing becomes tougher faster, allowing for sweeping to occur much sooner, greatly reducing the risk of vehicle windshield damage. Chip seal / surface dressing bitumen emulsions made with Dinoram® also effectively seal road surfaces against water ingression.

Dinoram® cationic emulsifiers produce stable emulsion viscosity across asphalt types for efficient and cost-effective chip seal / surface dressing. They deliver optimal emulsion viscosity characteristics that remain consistent through time and across a wide range of asphalts, providing increased versatility in asphalt selection which lowers asphalt costs, and reduces emulsion reprocessing due to viscosity problems which saves both time and money.

Dinoram® cationic emulsifiers make chip seal / surface dressing construction more efficient and cost-effective for government agencies, emulsion producers, paving contractors and the motoring public.

Dinoram® cationic bitumen emulsifiers decrease bond / tack coat drying time, thereby reducing paving downtime and returning traffic quicker, saving paving crews several hours per week which equates to hundreds of thousands in savings per paving crew per year. By preventing tack coat or bond coat from being tracked away, Dinoram® technology extends pavement life and reduces costs to remove tracked bond / tack coat and replace traffic paint, while decreasing the safety liability of reduced friction roads.

Emulsion manufacturers find tack coat or bond coat emulsions made with Dinoram® emulsifiers more convenient to produce since they use paving-grade asphalts that are easily sourced and emulsified, and can be formulated to meet typical specifications. They can be used to produce dilute and non-dilute emulsions that remain stable during extended storage and after repeated pumping cycles. Paving contractors prefer them because they become non-tracking very quickly after being sprayed, and remain stable when stored for long durations in tank trucks and storage tanks.

Prime coat is an introduction of hydrocarbon binder into a previously compacted non-stabilized pavement layer. Prime coats made with Dinoram® cationic bitumen emulsifiers not only effectively stabilize the surface aggregates of the compacted layer, but also provide waterproofing, enhance cohesion and prepare the lower layer for the wearing course application.

The penetration application is the insertion of a binder into a layer of macadam stones previously interlocked by rolling to create an adhesive film. Subsequently, aggregates are spread to fill the voids between the binder and the aggregates and are alternated with several layers of bitumen emulsion. When the penetration application incorporates the use of a bitumen emulsion enhanced with Dinoram® cationic bitumen emulsifier technology, it is highly effective in stabilizing the untreated course in new pavements, base courses as well as for renovating old pavements.

Storable open-graded cold mix is used in road maintenance to patch potholes and similar localized damage from weathering and traffic. When manufacturing cold mix, aggregates are often mixed with a bituminous emulsion. Bitumen emulsions formulated with Dinoram® cationic bitumen emulsifiers are especially effective in producing cold mixes that can be stored for several weeks.

Specialty emulsion producers using Dinoram® rapid / medium setting cationic emulsifiers to make high-performance chip seal / surface dressing, bond / tack coat, prime coat and penetration bitumen emulsions, as well as storable cold mixes, benefit by providing their customers with cutting edge technology that lengthens roadway life.
