In-Situ Asphalt Recycling
In-situ asphalt recycling addresses this challenge by providing solutions to reclaim the materials used in existing, deteriorated pavement. The materials are recycled in-situ (in place), and an emulsion stabilizer or asphalt binder is added to facilitate the construction of a new, stronger road. With in-situ recycling, not only is the original asphalt investment preserved but with minimal virgin asphalt needed, costs are significantly reduced.
Arkema’s in-situ asphalt recycling technologies are engineered to deliver the highest and most reliable performance. They are different from conventional recycling techniques because they integrate exclusive Stabiram® and Dinoram® emulsifier chemistry plus an engineered design process to meet performance-related specifications. These technologies reduce costs by at least 25% compared to conventional construction techniques and provide environmentally friendly options for rehabilitating roads with minor to major distresses.
Arkema’s in-situ recycling solutions include:
- Cold-In-Place Recycling (Reflex®)
- Full Depth Reclamation and Granular Base Stabilization (Fortress®)
- Hot-In-Place Recycling (Restore®)
Benefits
- Better short- and long-term durability
- Faster traffic return
- Savings up to 25-40% compared to conventional paving
