CustoFloat Anionic Collectors and Float Oils

CustoFloat® froth flotation reagent collectors and float oils are developed to maximize the grade and recovery of industrial minerals during mining and mineral processing. They are custom-tailored for each customer’s unique ore and froth flotation process, and are mainly used in the primary, secondary or reverse beneficiation of carbonate / oxide minerals.

CustoFloat® reagent collectors are anionic – they include a polar component that selectively attaches to mineral surfaces, and a non-polar component that projects out into the solution making the surface hydrophobic. They can either chemically bond to the mineral surface with high selectivity (chemisorption) or be held on the surface by physical forces (physical absorption).

CustoFloat® flotation oils act as co-collectors, extending the collector’s ability to float the desired mineral. They provide strength to the hydrophobic layer and directly impact the nature of the froth, thus controlling the strength and mineral selectivity of the froth zone. CustoFloat® collectors and float oils are formulated to work together so that the froth flotation process can achieve higher mineral grade and recovery with improved cost performance.

Arkema employs a wide range of technologies for anionic froth flotation reagent collector and float oil formulation that enables us to provide the best collector performance available during mineral processing.
